Dr Jia Yong Tan

Dr Jia Yong Tan is an endocrinologist with broad expertise across endocrine and metabolic conditions, with a particular interest in diabetes and metabolic health.

He completed his medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Adelaide and gained diverse clinical experience across hospitals in South Australia and Western Australia. He subsequently undertook his physician training in South Australia and completed specialist endocrinology training at Flinders Medical Centre and Lyell McEwin Hospital.

After achieving Fellowship of Royal Australasian of Physicians (FRACP) in Endocrinology, Dr Tan completed a dedicated clinical and research fellowship in cardiometabolic medicine at Alfred Health. During this time, he was also actively involved in the specialist Type 1 diabetes service.

Dr Tan continues to work in the public sector at Alfred Health alongside his private practice. He is currently undertaking a PhD at Monash University focused on diabetes in older adults, reflecting his ongoing commitment to evidence-based practice and academic medicine strong research interest and involvement. Dr Tan is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia (ESA) and Australian Diabetes Society (ADS) with regularly attendance at national and international conferences.

He is passionate about delivering comprehensive, patient-centred and best-practice endocrine care. His clinical interests include the management of diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes), obesity, thyroid disorders, adrenal and pituitary conditions, reproductive endocrinology and bone health.
